Customization options are plentiful in True Skate. Players can select their character and personalize their appearance with custom apparel from renowned brands like Santa Cruz, DGK, and Grizzly. The skateboard itself can be customized with decks and grips from various brands like Primitive and Creature.
Replay editing is a standout feature in the game. Capturing the perfect line requires careful timing, strength, precision, angle adjustments, and late corrections. The advanced replay system offers multiple camera angles, including a fisheye lens that shakes on impact. Keyframes on the timeline allow for smooth transitions between cams. Players can choose from preset cameras or create custom cameras with options for field of view, distortion, distance, height, pitch, pan, yaw, and orbit.
For those who crave more creative freedom, the DIY mode allows players to unlock objects and create their own dream skatepark. New objects are regularly added to the Shop, offering endless possibilities for customization.
The game fosters a strong community spirit with global leaderboards, challenges, and the option to connect with friends for friendly games of S.K.A.T.E. The subscription-based SANDBOX service takes the experience further by providing additional customization options such as board stats, graphics, and the ability to create your own unique skate spot with customized gravity. Alternatively, players can explore the vast library of community-made content including skateparks, DIY creations, boards, skins, and apparel.
True Skate also supports playing on a second screen, allowing players to use their iOS device or Gamepad as a controller while enjoying the game on a larger display in landscape mode. This can be achieved by connecting an iOS device to an Apple TV or AirPlay compatible smart TV via Wi-Fi or cable.
